The Closed Restaurant File: April

After a traumatic couple of months — we reported three restaurant closings in March, four if you count the final death of the venerable suburban delicatessen Pumpernick’s, which, after several owners over the past decade, closed and was reborn as another Cupini’s — April was relatively light on restaurant closings.
Interestingly enough, it was another delicatessen that finally said shalom, after over a century in business. The New York Bakery & Delicatessen, which opened in downtown Kansas City in 1905, ended its long run at its third location at 7016 Troost.
It’s the end of an era.
