Father’s Day presents

Forget boring cuff links, ties (even food-related ones) and the snuggie. Dad deserves something loud, lewd and preferably alcoholic.
For the gift that keeps on giving, there’s the beer-of-the-month club good from two to 12 months. For as low as $21 per month dad will receive 12 beers from “lightly distributed U.S. microbreweries,” along with a newsletter explaining what the hell exactly he is tasting.
He’ll need something to drink those beers in, and Crate and Barrel has just the thing with its Direction Pilsner glass featuring a curvaceous shape that won’t have dad thinking of beer. If he needs to drink discreetly, the rustic classic-style Stanley Flask might be just the thing.
Dogfish Head Brewery is not distributed in Missouri or Kansas but you can get him the next best thing — Dogfish Head shampoo bar made with rosemary, tea tree oil and ale, which is supposed to make a great conditioner.

And if you’re looking for a good place to take dad for brunch, our dining newsletter Pitch Fork recommended the manly Golden Ox,
which is serving a “beefed-up” brunch especially for dad. This meal
features prime rib, pork loin, fried chicken, shrimp and a whole host
of sides and desserts. Alternatively, the man of the house can order
the dad-sized sirloin steak
(that would be 16 ounces). The brunch costs $14.95 for adults and $6.95
for
children 12 and under, while the sirloin is $23.95. Service is from 11
a.m. to 4 p.m. and reservations are suggested. Call 816-842-2866.
