St. Louis’ view of KC dining stuck on the Plaza

It’s irksome that writers from outside of Kansas City continue to begin most pieces about KC-area dining with some version of the axiom that “Kansas City isn’t just barbecue these days…” What do you people outside of this city think of us?

Is it that we walk around from rib joint to rib joint nailing down delicious, crackling red-and-black ribs? They even eat barbecue for breakfast, Martha. When we finally stop running the fountains, we can just welcome folks to the city of flaming meat pits.
