Hey, McDonald’s, we’ve got an easy fix for your health insurance dilemma
The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that McDonald’s was considering cutting health insurance for employees unless a federal health-care requirement that 80 percent of a plan’s premium revenue be spent on medical costs was waived. After the story ran, McDonald’s responded by saying the company wouldn’t cut health insurance plans, but might have to seek alternatives.
Look, McDonald’s, here’s something you can do to improve the health care of everyone in the world, not just your employees: Eliminate the Big Breakfast with Hotcakes, which has 93 percent of our daily recommended fat intake and 94 percent of our daily recommended sodium intake. The overall health care savings should be more than enough to cover the tab for any uptick in health insurance costs.
