Sprint Center now gluten friendly

The Sprint Center is starting to offer alternatives for people with Celiac Disease and other food allergies.

In partnership with Levy Restaurants — the company that also handles food for the Arrowhead Club in Arrowhead Stadium and at Wrigley Field — the arena will be selling personal-sized pizzas made with gluten-free crust, available at Oak Street Pizza in the concourse. The concession stand will also offer a small selection of gluten-free sweets like cookies and brownies.

All gluten-free items are made by the maestros at Olivia’s Oven, which also supplies gluten-free products to Waldo Pizza, Grand Street Cafe, One More Cup and local Hy-Vee stores.

Olivia’s has built its reputation on avoiding gluten, and to make sure none accidentally gets on customers’ pizza, Oak Street will cook the gluten-free pizzas in a separate oven.

The best way to wash down pizza is milk beer, and the Sprint Center also carries that — gluten-free — in the Perceptive Software Founders Club. According to Olivia’s Web site, April 30 is the first day of the new menu, which also happens to be the day Neil Young concert. Keep on rocking in the gluten-free world!
