EPA removes saccharin from list of hazardous substances

Crack open a can of Tab and celebrate — the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has removed saccharin from its list of hazardous substances.

The EPA’s decision won’t determine whether saccharin does or does not appear in your chewing gum or low-calorie soda. The only likely change is in how the waste created by manufacturing the artificial sweetener must be handled.
