Killa City: Lee’s Summit man tells police he killed his wife
A Lee’s Summit police officer asked Maurice Henry Sr. if anyone was hurt inside his house.
“Just my wife,” Henry told the officer. “I killed her.”
This afternoon, Jackson County Prosecutor Jim Kanatzar charged Henry with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.
According to the probable cause statement, Henry and his wife were arguing in their bedroom Thursday night. Henry’s son went to the bedroom after he heard his mother
yell his name. When the boy walked in, his father was holding a
12-gauge shotgun at his side. Then, he reportedly saw his father shoot his mother
in the head. The boy ran to the kitchen where his sister was calling
911, grabbed her and ran to a neighbor’s house. “My dad just shot my mom,” one of the children told a neighbor.
Officers arrived at the house in the 1200 block of S.W. Sunflower Drive at 8:46 p.m. Police found Henry’s wife dead inside the front door.
Later, Henry asked for a lawyer but told police, “It’s pretty obvious it was my fault. I did what I did.” — Justin Kendall
