Patrikio’s Mexican Restaurant has closed – here’s a eulogy

One of the oldest Mexican restaurants in south Kansas City, Patrikio’s Restaurant at 9849 Holmes, has closed. One of the business owners in the Gomer’s Plaza shopping center across the street told me that the restaurant, owned by Osamah Aburas, had been shuttered for several weeks. The phone number is no longer in service.

Anyone familiar with some of the scathing online reviews that the restaurant has received from disappointed patrons won’t be surprised by this news — “This is absolutely the worst restaurant … there is absolutely nothing redeeming about this place at all,” wrote an Urban Spoon commenter last year. The place stank, even literally.
