What food do you take with you to the KCI Airport?

Airports will likely never be pushing the culinary envelope, although business travelers are demanding healthier options, and local institutions can, on occasion, lift an entire terminal (case in point, Usinger’s Deli in the Milwaukee Airport).

Kansas City International Airport is a special kind of food challenge. It has forced me to break down and order a hot sandwich from Quiznos, which I regretted immediately after I had paid and before I’d even taken my first bite. As such, I’ve spent the past three years searching for the perfect culinary carry-on.
