Do you aspire to be ‘mayor’ of your favorite bar or restaurant?

The days of just being a regular somewhere may be over. Today, many of us expect to be recognized for our commitment to chicken fingers and pints.
Foursquare, which counts Kansas Citian Ryan Gerding (he’s ‘mayor’ of 10 places) among its 10 million members, helps people be recognized. You digitally ‘check in’ when you arrive at a bar, restaurant or other business. ‘Check in’ most frequently and you’re named the ‘mayor.’ Telling the Internet where you are in real time is not without its drawbacks (consider the chilling phone call received by local blogger Shea Sylvia last summer), but the ‘mayor’ is typically entitled to discounts or freebies.
