Trader Joe’s is now open in Leawood and Kansas City

Midwest civility is winning out over gourmet-food craziness this morning at Trader Joe’s in the Ward Parkway Center (8600 Ward Parkway). Mothers in plastic leis are waiting patiently behind stay-at-home dads, who are busy scrolling through something on their smartphones.

“I just wanted to see what it was all about,” Alex Harnes said. He drove in from Independence this morning and was pleased to find a parking spot so quickly.
