KC might be getting a reputation for gas-station cuisine

The other towns can keep their hot dogs on a roller and their frozen burritos with molten filling that waits dormant, to be unleashed by pushing a few buttons on the microwave. Instead, we’ve got Oklahoma Joe’s, which has won no shortage of national praise, and now, prognosticator Nate Silver has given a shout-out to (what I believe is) Papu’s Cafe to his 90,000-plus Twitter followers. 

My advice to restaurateurs downtown: Buy the old Valero by City Hall. It’s a hip spot waiting to happen.
