KC doesn’t care about celebrity chefs … yet

  • Mario Batali isn’t making us book a ticket to Las Vegas.

The beauty of Las Vegas is the effort that goes into creating a realistic version of a fake universe. Like Jurassic Park, no expense is spared, albeit in an effort to bring the rubes with the cameras around their necks. And it would seem, to the good people of Vegas, that the rubes are right here in Kansas City.

In a recent piece on Vegas Inc., Ken Langdon of Langdon/Flynn (and former public-relations director for Caesars Palace), suggested that Kansas Citians are being lured to Sin City by the allure of celebrity chefs rather than the food being served. A fine, but erroneous point, that I am all too happy to refute.
