Do you ever eat dessert at a barbecue restaurant?

  • Ever want dessert hot off the grill?

The closest I’ve come to dessert at a barbecue restaurant is a piece of hot apple pie at Jess & Jim’s Steakhouse in Martin City. So in other words, it’s never happened. I usually have close to a side of beef in me and the idea of adding some dairy on top of that just seems like I’d be rubbing it in the cow’s face.

A friend who grills peaches as often as meat asked if any of the big boys are really good at the end-of-the-meal options. Off the top of my head, I can’t even think of a proper dessert (beyond a cellophane-wrapped brownie) offered at a barbecue joint. Have you ever had the urge for something sweet after a barbecue meal and if so, have any of the local spots brought a plate worth eating to the table?
