What places are part of your personal mythology?

  • A lot of dates have flourished and failed at Garozzo’s over the years.

You might drive by Garozzo’s and remember your first date (or a particularly bad date), but that can’t really hold a candle to Lucile Edison stepping foot inside the Aladdin Hotel after 74 years. The Topeka Capital-Journal has the story of Edison revisiting the hotel where she spent her honeymoon … in 1937.

But that doesn’t mean your drive around Kansas City is not chock-full of very important sandwiches. I found out about this job while I was face-deep in a pork tenderloin sandwich from Kitty’s Cafe — not that I need any more incentive to eat a triple stack from the midtown institution. Which restaurants, meals or places in Kansas City are part of your personal mythology?
