39th Street: Szechuan is gone, Burrito Joe’s rolls in

The dark brick building at 1403 West 39th Street will probably always be best-known as the location of the popular Macaluso’s Restaurant, owned and operated by the late, larger-than-life personality Tommy Macaluso. It was a couple of other restaurants after Macaluso’s death, most recently the 1960s-style Chinese restaurant called Szechuan House.

But Szechaun House, after a two-year-run, is gone, and a new tenant is getting the space ready for its newest incarnation: Burrito Joe’s.
