2009: The good news and the bad news in Fat City

A surprising number of new restaurants opened in 2009

​Last year was bittersweet for restaurants in Kansas City. Some venerable names closed after long runs, but at least as many new venues opened — which in this economy is a very promising sign. Several restaurants moved to bigger quarters. One popular steakhouse, The Majestic Restaurant, got a second chance at life when the building’s owners decided to run the restaurant themselves.
