ZIWI, Derrick Nnadi Foundation sponsor all dog adoptions at KC Pet Project
In celebration of their partnership with Chiefs defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi, ZIWI helped cover adoption fees for all 88 available dogs as of Feb. 7 at Kansas City Pet Project. The New Zealand based pet food company gained inspiration through Nnadi’s continued efforts to get local dogs adopted through the Derrick Nnadi Foundation.
“After we saw how Derrick supported KC Pet Project by covering dog adoption fees during last year’s regular-season and how he covered all dog adoptions in the shelter after their Super Bowl win, we knew this was a cause we wanted to be a part of,” says Mary Helen Horn, president, and director of ZIWI, USA. “Derrick believes every dog deserves a home and we believe every dog deserves the best in nutrition.”
No Super Bowl win this year, but that doesn’t mean the pets should miss out on the same kind of love.
Nnadi was grateful for the partnership and how it contributes to his mission.
“ZIWI gets what it’s all about, and it’s finding these dogs their forever homes,” Nnadi says. “It means a lot for them to step up and cover their adoption fees for this year.”
In addition to a free adoption, new pet parents also received a gift bag including products and other pet essentials compliments of ZIWI. More than 80 dogs have now had their fees waived through the adoption campaign.
“We saw a tremendous response to Derrick Nnadi’s generosity in finding homes for all of our dogs in the shelter following last year’s Super Bowl win, and we’re so thrilled that his foundation, along with ZIWI, has helped dozens of dogs find homes this season,” says Tori Fugate, chief communications officer for KC Pet Project. “We’re so grateful for their support.”
The number of dogs adopted are part of the over 7,800 pets that KC Pet Project adopts out each year. Fugate says the nonprofit depends on collaborations like this one to continue finding homes for pets in the shelter.
