Wreckless Eric and Amy Rigby

“Here Comes My Ship,” by Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby, from Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby (Stiff Records):
Wreckless Eric‘s principal claim to fame is the single “(I’d Go the) Whole Wide World,” a ragged, infectious two-chord paean penned in the first days of the British new-wave explosion and resurrected by Will Ferrell in the movie Stranger Than Fiction. Britain’s answer to Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers, Eric plays naifish, sloppy power pop that coalesces into charming, no-frills rock suffused with self-deprecating wit. Eric released his first solo album in 13 years with 2004’s Bungalow Hi and plans to follow it this fall with an album featuring his new wife, Amy Rigby. A fine singer-songwriter in her own right, Rigby has released five albums and built a solid following for her smart, unvarnished music.
