Woman says she was abducted outside downtown bar and raped
A 24-year-old woman told police that she was abducted and raped after
departing a bar in the Power & Light District at 3:15 a.m. Sunday.
According to the police report, the woman exited Tengo Sed Cantina on
Walnut Street in order to smoke a cigarette. In her account, a man then pushed her into
the backseat of a vehicle. Two other men, including the driver, were
in the vehicle. She was driven to the vicinity of 24th and Topping,
taken from the car and raped at the edge of Blue Valley Park.
An ambulance took the “visibly shaken and traumatized” woman to St. Luke’s Hospital. Police canvassed the area at 24th and Topping “with negative results.” An investigating officer made contact with Power & Light security, and a search was made for a camera that might have captured the alleged abduction.
