With 2-0 Lead, Kansas City Royals Look To Reach Back-To-Back World Series In Toronto
It started with Edinson Volquez throwing six shutout innings en route to a 5-0 win in Game 1, followed by an opportunistic 6-3 win in Game 2 when the Kansas City Royals scored five runs in the seventh inning fueled by a dropped pop fly in between Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Nick Goins and right fielder Jose Bautista.
And just like that, the Royals are two games away from returning to the World Series.
After last season’s improbable run to the World Series from one of the two American League Wild Card positions, the Royals are proving that last year wasn’t an anomaly and are looking to be the first team to reach the World Series in back-to-back seasons since the Texas Rangers did it during the 2010 and 2011 season.
The series is far from over, as the Blue Jays trot out one of the most productive lineups in baseball. Game 3 is Monday night at 8:07 p.m. ET, with Game 4 following Tuesday at 4:07 p.m. ET. If necessary, Game 5 is on October 21st, Game 6 is on October 23rd and Game 7 is on October 24th. For the last two games, the series heads back to Kansas City.
According to TiqIQ.com, secondary market Royals playoff tickets for their three games at the Rogers Centre have an average price of $290.92. Game 3 has an average ticket price of $240.74 with a get-in price of $95, Game 4 has an average ticket price of $249.31 with a get-in price of $79 and Game 5 has an average ticket price of $340.67 with a get-in price of $83.
The ticket prices for the games in Toronto are cheaper than the games in Kansas City if the series goes to six or seven games. Game 6 at Kauffman Stadium has an average ticket price of $437.82 with a get-in price of $140 and Game 7 has an average ticket price of $626.61 with a get-in price of $156.
With tickets being cheaper for games at the Rogers Centre, Royals fans may be interested in watching the team try and clinch the series on the road. Hipmunk.com has Toronto flight deals for fans wanting to experience it in person. Toronto hotels on Hipmunk start from $79 to be the No. 1 resource for any traveling baseball fan.
Prior to reaching the World Series last season, the Royals had not reached the final stage of the playoffs since 1985, when George Brett led Kansas City to their one and only World Championship. The Royals hadn’t even reached the postseason since 1985 before last season and have had a truly impressive two-year run that has brought the franchise back to relevancy.
