William Rees shot to death at Express Stop gas station; 108 homicides in KCMO in 2011
Kansas City, Missouri’s homicide total is now at 108 for 2011. The total has surpassed the 106 homicides of last year.
The 108th homicide occurred at the Express Stop (5712 Independence Avenue) on Friday afternoon. A white man in his mid-20s was found dead inside the gas station around 3:02 p.m. Police say the shooting may have been the result of an armed robbery attempt. UPDATE: The man shot to death has been identified as 33-year-old William Rees.
