  • This may be one very costly dinner for Mize.

The bill came due for a January dinner at the Longbranch Steakhouse in Lenexa. The Kansas City Star reports that William H. Mize Jr. will be in court today facing charges of aggravated battery and carrying a concealed weapon while under the influence.

Mize, 66, and his wife were dining at the steakhouse, when he accidentally fired his gun after reaching into his pocket. His wife was sitting across from him and the bullet struck her in the leg above the knee. She was taken to an area hospital and released that night. While Mize had a valid conceal and carry permit, Kansas law prohibits a person from carrying a concealed weapon if he or she has been drinking.
