William Carter dies after fight; police say he’s a homicide victim

UPDATE (3:11 p.m.): Kansas City police have identified the victim of this morning’s homicide as 27-year-old William Carter. Police are also saying that the fight the victim was involved in did NOT take place at Lafferty’s Lounge as was first reported to police. Their investigation continues.

Original Story (9:32 a.m.): Kansas City police are investigating a “suspicious death” after a man died following a fight at Lafferty’s Lounge.

The man, described as in his mid-20s, died around 6:30 a.m. at Research Hospital. A witness told police that the man had been in a physical altercation at the bar at 6301 Blue Parkway and had suffered severe facial injuries. The man became ill this morning and was rushed to the hospital where he died a short time later.
