Will you vote for a new tax to pay for a convention hotel? (poll)

We may get to vote on whether Kansas City gets a 1,000-room convention

hotel.

KSHB Channel 41 reports

that the city doesn’t have the money to pay for the hotel, so guess who

they want to ante up?: You.

City leaders are considering putting a new tax or fee to a vote.  So do you want to pay for the hotel?

KSHB points out that the city might need between $2 and $15 million to build the hotel. KSHB adds a couple of things to keep in mind: The city is already putting up

$12 million for the Power & Light District and a St. Louis

convention hotel went to foreclosure last year.

The old Power & Light building at 14th

Street and Baltimore Avenue is the considered the best site for the hotel.
