Wil Myers is breaking hearts and cameras in KC

Wil Myers can’t stop hitting things. Myers fouled a ball straight back in the sixth inning of yesterday’s Major League Baseball Futures Game (video here) and obliterated an ESPN camera. Although he got the same sheepish look that accompanies a broken window when you’re playing ball in the house, Myers won’t be taking money out of his reported $2 million signing bonus to pay for the camera.

“I saw the replay right after the pitch. That was pretty cool. I’m not paying them anything,” Myers told MLB.

On the field, it was just another day at Triple-A, as he went 2-4 with three RBIs in the game where the U.S. squad beat the World team 17-5. Jerry Crasnick celebrated Myers as the “next great Royals’ hope,” in a piece on ESPN yesterday. A pair of Royals pitching prospects started the game. Jake Odorizzi gave up a home run in an inning of work, while Yordano Ventura pitched a scoreless first for the World Futures team.
