Whoop Dee Effin’ Doo

Ever inspired by the spontaneity and enthusiasm of love-of-the-game public-access broadcasting, cheesy old game shows and costumed dance-a-thons, photographer Jaimie Warren has been spearheading Whoop Dee Doo talent shows for, oh, years. Now a full-fledged nonprofit community art and goofy-dance advocacy project, Whoop Dee Doo has a new home at 1735 Walnut in Kansas City’s Crossroads District. At 1 and 3 p.m., experience live shows that include sketches, contests, dancing and performances by talented Kansas Citians. Everyone who attends will be filmed and photographed, so be prepared to look awesome and to dance like nobody’s watching (although people will definitely be watching). For priority seating, be a kid or take a cue from the glory days of Let’s Make a Deal by arriving in costume. Whoop Dee Doo’s all-ages shows are kid-friendly.
