What You Do For Money Honey: Martinez Hillard

What You Do For Money Honey takes us beyond the music and into the cubicles, behind the desks, and on top of what local musicians do to pay the bills.

In addition to playing in the excellent Cowboy Indian Bear, Martinez Hillard puts on shows with his Oh!mr. Those Oh!mr shows bring together artists one wouldn’t normally think of sharing a bill, as in the case of the upcoming “Marty Turns 47: Part III – Slumber Marty” showcase featuring Sam Billen, Stik Figa, and Jabee. That showcase is at the Bottleneck on March 27, just a week after CIB returns from SXSW.

So, what do you do when not making music, so as to pay the bills?

I am an administrative assistant at Black Hills Energy. I provide direct assistance to the senior administrative assistant in our Lawrence, KS office. I collect and compile data in reference to our scholarship program, schedule and coordinate meetings in and out of state, and package and distribute mail for the office.
