What If the Music Died Today?

By now, someone has probably pointed out to you that 50 years ago today, Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper, Richie Valens, Jimmy Hoffa and Gwen Stacy were killed in a plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa. Now, CNN is reporting that this is not “the day the music died,” as suggested in the song “Bye Bye Birdie” by Willie Nelsons.

All mock blasphemies aside, this was a shitty event, and not just because Gary Busey and Lou Diamond Phillips would go on to portray Holly and Valens in respective biopics.

Now, our question to you, dear reader, is what three artists would have to die in a plane crash today for it to be considered a musical tragedy of equal proportions to the famous ’59 crash?
