It’s creeping up on Christmas, and you probably have a bunch of holiday parties to attend this weekend. Howzabout blowing them off? Instead, try one of the following activities, which may or may not involve Santa-shaped sugar cookies.
1. Look at nude pictures. Overland Park’s VALA Gallery presents The First Noel, an art show chock full of portraits of the same nude model. The opening reception starts at 6 p.m. Also in Johnson County: A new group exhibition, Hand Print Press: 15 Years, opens with a 6 p.m. reception tonight at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art.
2. Purchase some toys made for adults. No, not that kind of adult toy. The creepy-cute vinyl creations available at Poptopia, where a trading/shopping party is happening from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight.
3. Watch a scandal unfold. Farragut North, onstage through December 13 at the Unicorn Theatre, concerns some sketchy political dealings and a hot intern.
5. Talk to the animals. Just like 100 years ago, when it first opened, admission to the Kansas City Zoo is free on Sunday.
