We have learned nothing

Have you ever heard of the house wren? For birds, they’re huge assholes. Any ornithologists reading this are welcome to correct our admittedly limited expertise, but they build nests everywhere just so the females will have multiple choices of where to lay their eggs, and if they come across a spot that already has eggs in it, they peck holes in the eggs and kick them out of the way of progress.
Local company RED Development might just be the house wren of builders.
Some builders in Nevada are interested in erecting an indoor arena with
some of Nevada’s $1.5 billion in federal stimulus money. Supposedly
RED Development, along with Nevada state Sen. Randolph Townsend,
have sent a proposal to state lawmakers seeking backing. The
arguments for an arena are pretty similar to the ones being thrown
around before the Sprint Center was constructed — jobs created, new
construction work, etc.
RED Development, which did some work in our own Power & Light District, should know how well new
arenas do once they’re built. But then again, I guess no matter how
successful the Nevada arena may be — assuming it gets built and RED
does the work — RED still gets paid for its time. Meanwhile, our own
downtown nest of steel and glass sits egg-less and alone.
