Watch Janelle Monáe in a trailer for Hidden Figures, her major film debut
Janelle Monáe, the pride of Kansas City, Kansas, will appear in an upcoming movie about female African-American mathematicians who worked at NASA in the early 1960s. The movie, Hidden Figures, also stars Taraji P. Henson and Octavia Spencer and is based on the nonfiction book of the same name.
Monáe, 30, is making her major film debut in Hidden Figures. (She voiced a character in the animated movie Rio 2, to which she also contributed an original song.) Here’s the official trailer for the movie, which is scheduled to be released in January:
