Wanna Get High?
Picnics seem charming in theory, but often the reality is that you’re sitting outside with small insects crawling over your limbs and your food. The wind blows stuff around, and you realize that this activity may be better left to children — or the movies. We have the same ambiguous feelings about kite flying, even though we haven’t held a kite since, oh, Reagan was in office. But we’re willing to give it another go, especially now that we’ve seen the Kansas City Kite Club Web site’s (www.kckiteclub.org) list of good kite spots around the metro. First stop: Leawood Park (10601 Lee Boulevard), site of many of our own childhood picnics.
