“You who stand at the crossroads of history, take careful note of those of a former generation who are disappearing into the mists, for there will be no more like them.” – Jules Barbey d’Aurevilly

Walt Bodine has disappeared into the mists: The iconic Kansas City broadcaster died last night at age 92. His career in broadcast journalism lasted more than a half-century, but his role as one of Kansas City’s great storytellers will live on forever, thanks to the archives at KCUR 89.3, where his namesake talk show was a beloved staple on Kansas City’s NPR station from the 1980s until several years ago. Walt’s last on-air appearance was last April.
