Walnut Place Shops in Southmoreland sold to new owner

Yesterday, the news from Southmoreland was about the exit of Nature’s Own from the neighborhood.

Today, more news up the block: the Walnut Place Shops, at 43rd Street and Walnut, has sold. The seller was Ron Finch of Blue Valley Properties. The new owner is BP Property Investments.

The strip is currently home to the Walnut Place Laundromat, the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA), Stormy Tattoo, a Segway rental shop, and a small Christian church called Rising.

“The plan is to retain the tenants,” says Theresa Potter of BP Property Investments. “But we do have some unleased space we’re looking to rent out.”

Potter says some renovations are on the way.

“We’ll be doing new windows, a new roof, we’ll repaint the exterior, we’ll add signage to the building,” Potter says. “And NACA will see an addition to its interior — that’s part of their new lease.”

Potter also owns some other properties on Westport Road between Roanoke and State Line. (Hudson Hawk, a new barbershop, is a tenant.)

“This [Walnut Place Shops] is in our corridor, even though it’s on the other side of Main,” she says. “We like the area, and we’re already very active in it, so it seemed like a great fit with a lot of potential.”
