Walk the Walk

According to the World Health Organization, 33 million people worldwide live with HIV and AIDS. Closer to home, approximately 4,500 people in the Kansas City area have the disease; more than 700 are between the ages of 12 and 24.Given this sobering news, you might write off your ability to make a difference. But remember what Dr. Seuss said in The Lorax: “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”If you’re looking for a way to show that you care, head to Bar Natasha (1911 Main) between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. to join the other caring someones at the AIDS Walk 2008 Kickoff. The Walk is a fundraiser held each April for local AIDS service organizations. Tonight, sponsors and participants will meet to snack and share ideas about this year’s event.
