Waifs of the Week: Jebediah, Bluey, and a singer named Sugar Ray
Waifs of the Week is a collaboration between The Pitch and the local animal shelter Wayside Waifs. Over at 3901 Martha Truman Road, this ‘no kill’ shelter is constantly working to find loving homes for animals, including dogs, cats, and a host of other intriguing additions to your family.
If you’re not in a position to adopt but want to help out with the cause, or just spend more time with furry friends, several members of The Pitch team volunteer at Wayside and we cannot overstate how stellar that process has been for our own brain chemistry.

Bluey (Dog):
G’day, I’m Bluey! I’m an adorably sweet 1-year-old gal who is ready to steal your heart (and maybe a couple of treats!). Although life hasn’t always been easy for me, I try to always stay positive. I find joy in just about anything! Whether that’s playing with a few toys, going on a walk, or just hanging out with my favorite people. I love staying close and would love nothing more than to rest by your feet, or on the opposite end of the couch. My friends say that I am one resilient young lady, and I hope I continue to make them proud! I’ve been learning a lot more about life at Wayside. For example, I’ve learned to really enjoy going on hikes and staying active! I have a lot of energy, but that doesn’t mean I need an active adopter. Just means I have an unmatched zest for life! I am looking for my best friend to come along; All I need is the Bluey for my Bingo… Could that be you?
Sugar Ray (Cat):
Purrs to meet you, I’m Sugar Ray! I’m a 3-year-old tabby boy with a soft heart and an even softer purr. When you first meet me, I might seem a little shy because it just takes me a bit of time to feel comfortable in new surroundings. But once I get to know you, you’ll discover that underneath my bashful exterior is a total cuddle bug who loves gentle affection and quiet companionship. I’m happiest when I can curl up next to someone I trust and show off my incredible purr; it’s been said to sound like a turtle dove! It’s my special way of letting you know how content I am. I enjoy the simple things in life: a cozy blanket, a sunny window, and the steady rhythm of a calm home. Every now and then, I’ll surprise you with a playful streak, especially if you bring out a wand toy. But truth be told, I’m more of a laid-back guy who prefers lounging and soaking up love to anything too energetic. Are you looking for a sweet and gentle companion? Jebediah (Dog):
Hi there, I’m Jebediah! I’m such a good boy and an incredibly easy dog to love. I’m quiet, calm, sweet, and snuggly. I love to hang out by your side as you go about your day. It’s pretty simple for me; I just want to be loved! I’m a handsome, 3-year-old, 51-pound mixed breed, with gentle, soulful eyes that will melt your heart, the cutest face, and a happy, sweet-natured, lovely personality. I’m already crate-trained, and I’m mostly housebroken, too, as long as you keep me on a schedule and get me out for plenty of breaks. I’m friendly with everyone I meet. When visitors stop by, I’m eager to politely greet them, wagging my tail and soaking up the love and attention they give me. Foster Mom lets me go at my own pace, deciding when I’m ready to approach new people, which I happily do. I love it when she takes me out for walks in our neighborhood. I walk great on my leash, and I’m pleasant with both people and other dogs I see along the way. Meet me soon, and I’ll show you just how good of a boy I truly am!
