Victim’s mom finds out 14-year-old daughter is pregnant, man charged with statutory rape

Just when we thought we’d had enough alleged adult-on-child bad news today …

Philip N. Earle, 27, has been charged with five counts of second-degree statutory rape after the mother of his alleged victim found out the girl was approximately seven weeks pregnant.

Jackson County Prosecutor Jim Kanatzar filed the charges after Earle allegedly admitted to a recurring tryst with the girl. In interviews with police, both the alleged victim and Earle told detectives that no contraceptives had been used. The police report states “there was no physical force used during the intercourse.”

In his statement to police, Earle said that before the first alleged incident, he thought the girl was “16 or 17.” Before the second incident, he allegedly learned that she was 14-years-old.

Earle told police he thought the unborn child might be his.
