Venice Calling

Bad news, buddy: Nicola Granillo is going to steal your girlfriend. That unshaven, sensitive-looking guy with the open collar and the $45,000 violin is from Venice. He plays with Interpreti Veneziani — chamber music. And it’s Italian chamber music, the best kind.
Geminiani, Vivaldi, Handel, Halvorsen, Paganini. Those are the composers. They’re all dead, so they’re not stealing her. But Granillo and the other musicians — they’re trouble. They play at 7:30 p.m. at the Lied Center (1600 Stewart Drive in Lawrence, 785-864-2722). Oh, wait, here’s a thought: If harpsichords creep the girlfriend out, then you’re in luck. But otherwise, she’s carrying someone’s instrument case home tonight, and that’s not a euphemism. See lied.ku.edu.— Scott Wilson
