Tyrone Campbell Jr. accused of running over KCPD member and fleeing DUI checkpoint

Kansas City cops believe they’ve tracked down the driver who fled a DUI checkpoint at 76th Street and Troost last month after running over a civilian member of the Kansas City Police Department and driving off with the person on the hood.

Tyrone Campbell Jr., 26, is charged with second-degree assault and

leaving the scene of a motor-vehicle accident for the June 11 incident. Two witnesses, identified in court documents as Campbell’s brother and girlfriend, pointed fingers at Campbell.
