Trick or Eat

When David Blaine got into his giant goldfish bowl, we were sort of freaked out. Then, midstunt, we saw a photo of his hand — which did not look like it belonged to a living thing — and we were really scared. The lesson we’ve learned? Get out of that damned bathtub after 20 minutes.

Perhaps magicians have been suffering locational ennui as well. Leave the mysterious curtains and dark rooms and smoke and mirrors, they’ve said, and move the magic outdoors. And so the Plaza’s Classic Cup (301 West 47th Street, 816-753-1840) hosts Magic Mike Schwally on its spacious patio. Schwally performs his sleight of hand close up — and presumably, he leaves the giant water-filled sphere at home. Catch him from 6 to 8 tonight — and on future Wednesdays — unless he figures out how to disappear in the middle of a crowded sidewalk.
