Tour rumors abound: Paul McCartney and the Pixies

These suckers aren’t nailed down quite yet, but much buzz surrounds these possible concert dates.

Here’s one: Paul McCartney at the Sprint Center. If what we’re hearing is true, Sir Paul’s date with Kansas City is coming up fast: the former Beatle (and recent recipient of the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song) is playing on Saturday, July 24, according to Pollstar and the Star. The rock legend is pulling out all the stops with a two-hour-and-forty-minute set in other cities, with good chunks of tunage from McCartney’s solo career, as well as Wings, the Firemen, and the Beatles.

And another: rumor (or rather, Ticketmaster) has it that the Pixies are stopping by the Uptown Theater on Friday, September 17. The Uptown hasn’t announced it on its website yet, but our fingers are crossed that the Pixies will finally come to Kansas City all together. (If you’re a fan, you’ve probably caught Kim Deal with the Breeders at the Bottleneck last August, and Black Francis — also known as Frank Black — at the Riot Room last July.) It’s shortly after the twenty-year anniversary of Doolittle, so keep a sharp eye out: these alt-rock dinosaurs are  bound to sell out the Uptown faster than you can sing the chorus of “Crackity Jones.”
Edit 1:29PM: We’ve gotten a press release that says the Pixies are, in fact, headed our way. We’ll let you know when you can score tickets (for most dates on the tour, tickets are on sale on Monday, June 14). Fuck Buttons open.
