Total Bust

According to bra manufacturers, the average American woman has grown in recent years from a 34B to a 36C. But, as Oprah and Cosmo never tire of pointing out, the relationship between a bra and the woman it fits is sometimes less about actual size than it is about psychology. It’s that relationship that shapes Cups, Joni Sheram’s one-woman hit show, which opens tonight on the Jerome Stage at the Unicorn Theatre (3828 Main). Presented by Theater League, the play examines the bras of Sheram’s life, treating them as milestones: from training to nursing and from strapless to sports, touching on those burned during the tempestuous 1960s and those specially designed for life after a mastectomy. The impressive Janet Henry stars. Curtain is at 7:30 p.m.; tickets start at $25. See unicorntheatre.org or call 816-531-7529.
