Tony La Russa talks One Last Strike at the Uptown

  • La Russa’s back in KC.

Tony La Russa didn’t always receive the warmest welcome in Kansas City, but that was when he was the manager of the St. Louis Cardinals (which was usually busy drubbing the hometown team). Now out of uniform, but back to talk baseball, it’s an entirely different ballgame.

La Russa is set to discuss his newest book, One Last Strike: Fifty Years in Baseball, Ten and a Half Games Back, and One Final Championship Season, as part of the KMBZ and 610 Sports Speakers Series, Tuesday, October 2. And you can expect some discussion of Kansas City’s baseball past as La Russa’s playing career began with the Kansas City Athletics, when he was called up in May 1963. The talk begins at 11:30 a.m. Tickets cost $39, which include an autographed book and lunch.
