Tonight’s show: Get to the Riot Room early for Irv da Phenom

Tonight, Irv da Phenom‘s opening for CES Cru’s CD release party with Heltah Skeltah. Yesterday, ya boy Irv brought The Pitch an advance copy of Tire Shops & Night Clubs, a mixtape he expects to release mid-September.

KPRS 103.3’s show Underground Heat is already playing Irv’s single, “How I Feel,” featuring Big Scoob (whose new album on Strange Music, Monsterifik, you may have seen on billboards around town).

MP3:

The tire shop reference comes from da Phenom’s family business, Irv’s Tires at 2929 State Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas. Irv’s only 21, but he’s got great singing chops and some serious entrepreneurial energy.

The cover art’s by Craig Smith. Irv’s mix is bursting with soulful melodies (about girls, ‘course), old-school beats, tight rhymes and street smarts. He’ll be rockin’ the stage for Tech N9ne at the Granada on September 11.

The release party for Tire Shops & Night Clubs at the Uptown is still TBA, but you can catch Irv’s groove tonight at the Riot Room. See ya there.
