Tonight: The other music trivia, plus free alt-country from Dallas

Mat “Slimm” Adkins, that purveyor of fine rock photography and knower of knowables, is holding court tonight at Davey’s Uptown with another installment of his Slimm Spins Music Trivia.
Unlike the other, mostly question-based pub quizzes around town, Slimm Spins is entirely name-that-tune-tastic. So get your friends with the sharp ears — the ones who are always stopping mid-conversations at crowded restaurants and pointing to the air going You hear that? What Doobies song is that! but all you can hear is the gristle cracklin’ in your jaws so you go on shoveling them burnt ends — and head down in time to join a team at 8 p.m.
At 9:30, Dallas alt-country band Macon Greyson plays a few tunes of its own, and you don’t have to guess what they are. Just enjoy them. In fact, according to our friend, Rhonda Lyne, the band is giving away free copies of its new EP, This Machine Kills Hypocrisy, to anyone who shows up. After the Greyson’s done, Slimm resumes spinning.
Should be a nice, laidback night o’ trivia and twang. If you are so inclined, get on the pre-drink at the Record Bar, where Rex Hobart and his Honky Tonk Standards return to their regular Tuesday-night gig, starting at 7.
