Tonight: Russian Circles at the Riot Room
Tonight’s Riot Room show is sure to be an instrumental rock extravaganza. Not only do you have headliners Russian Circles, touring in support of their new album, Geneva, on Suicide Squeeze, but there are also the openers: Young Widows and Git Some.
Russian Circles’ bass player is Brian Cook, formerly of Botch and These Arms Are Snakes, bands noted for their ability to take hardcore and freak it out in ways previously not thought of.
Git Some is the band that’s going to knock your dick in the dirt, however, courtesy of the fact that the band’s Neil M. Keener and Chuck Fresh are formerly of Planes Mistaken For Stars, probably one of the most underrated instrumental rock acts ever. If you ever had the opportunity to see PMFS live, you know that despite their lack of vocals, there was such a stage presence in that band, and their sound was so big, that vocals would have been nothing more than a distraction.
This is going to be the sort of show to which you might want to wear a helmet, so you don’t make a mess when it blows your mind.
