Tomorrow Night: Jonah Smith at Crosstown Station

When Jonah Smith plays Crosstown Station tomorrow night, he’s in a unique position.

First of all, he’s playing between two cover acts (Jah Wheel and Trampled Under Foot, doing the Grateful Dead and Led Zeppelin, respectively — although, to be fair, both acts have a slew of originals). Secondly, he’s trying to do this whole tour as a fan-funded thing, much like the album in support of which he’s touring, Lights On. Now, we’ve seen this before and considering most acts don’t really have the pull for a guarantee, pretty much every show you see could be part of a “fan-funded” tour.

However, Smith had problems with some of his anchor dates — i.e., big money shows that pay for the tiny shows in towns like Sandpoint, Idaho — so, he’s asking for your help. Not only should you come out and see him play Crosstown Station, if you throw him five bucks, you’ll get his unreleased album Brooklyn Session, “complete with a bonus, unreleased version of ‘Gold & Green’ that wasn’t on the cd as well as some .jpg’s of original, handwritten lyric sheets, chord charts, and some other collectibles,” according to the website.

Jonah Smith plays from 8:50-9:50pm tomorrow at Crosstown Station.
