T.K. Webb and the Visions

“Hope You All Are Gone,” by T.K. Webb and the Visions, from Ancestor (Kemado Records):

Kansas City expat T.K. (Thomas Kelly) Webb comes to town on his inaugural American tour just in time for the release of Ancestor, his third album overall and his first with backing band the Visions. Originally a solo performer, Webb split his time between strummy folk and improvised space-rock. With the Visions, Webb comes at heaviness through the side door, with thick swirls of amplified psychedelia. Having honed his songwriting skills on the acoustic for the better part of two decades, however, Webb clearly knows how to build a song up from its most fundamental elements. A punk veteran, Webb has returned to electricity highly attuned to the guitar’s textural strengths, and he has even discovered some fresh new sounds all his own.
