Throwback Thursday: Watch Baby Birds Don’t Drink Milk play the Pistol in 2009 in advance of their shows this weekend
Lawrence’s Baby Birds Don’t Drink Milk (henceforth to be referred to as BBDDM) moved from the area to New York City in 2013, and since then, they’ve released some very well-regarded music via Brooklyn’s Fire Talk Records – including Kill the Fuzz, out on cassette earlier this week.
But it’s always been the live shows that were the real appeal with this ever-changing group. BBDDM could assault you with garage-rock fuzz or take off into experimental, Grizzly Bear-esque jams — sometimes within the same set. Their experimental sense of fun and wonder is still carried on by the likes of CS Luxem and Oils, but the grandiose sweep of BBDDM is a very unique thing that Iwe’ve missed since their move.
The band is back in town this weekend for two shows, and to get you back in touch with what you’ve been missing, here’s a BBDDM live set from the Pistol in June of 2009.
